Week 2 on the Steak and Eggs Diet and . . .

I look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow man. With a beard. I guess it’s no surprise really, considering how white I am. And considering the “carb up” I had yesterday (really just a “junk up”). But I’ll get to that . . .

First, I’m giving myself a pat on the back for sticking with my diet as laid out in the protocol for the entire week. It actually wasn’t too difficult. I enjoyed my dinners of steak and eggs (fried) and only had trouble finishing the one meal where I had my eggs scrambled.

I shed a bunch more water, kept to my training routine, and thought I was looking pretty damn sharp yesterday morning, all things considered.

And then I binged.

Holy shit did I binge!

Cheez-its (half a box), toast, a massive root beer float (half a pint of ice cream floating in there) and drinks galore.

But that wasn’t enough. Oh no. Not even close.

My inner Great White had been aroused and I was in full on feeding frenzy mode. So I had to go get some donuts.

Oh yeah.

I bought a dozen boxed donuts off the shelf, a pint of milk (whole, but not raw), and went to town. I had eight donuts. Eight fucking donuts!

And milk.

Yep. That did it. I was finally sated.

But I knew I’d be paying a price come picture time today. Sure enough, I looked at my naked ass in that mirror and Mr. Stay Puft was looking right back at me. Fuck.

So I took my pictures, dreading the moment it came time to unroll the tape measure. I knew it was going to be worse than even my first week. To my surprise, however, it read 33 ¼ inches. I couldn’t believe it. So I tried relaxing my belly even more – now it read 33 ½ inches.

I could live with that.

It’s dawned on me that Sunday is not the best day to be taking my progress pictures. While the Saturday carb up helps to fill out my muscles — which only really looks good when I’m lean – for the next day and a half after I end up nice and bloated with retained water from all the junk I ate. Saturday mornings would be a better time to take pictures since that’s when you can best see the untainted results from a week’s worth of dieting.

But a week is a week. So for now I’ll continue the Sunday progress pics. Improvements should still eventually be pretty visible.

Cheers!

Now on to the pictures . . .

  1. Good luck – glad you’re sticking with it – binging is always tempting – and I’ve always had a lot of difficulty sticking to diets without cheating. The only time I ever did it without cheating was when I thought my life depended on it. 6 months of no sugar, alcohol, or any junk and worked out 7 days a week. Lost 50 lbs, but I’ve never been able to repeat that performance. Maybe someone needs to scare me to death again?

    • I hear you on that one Aaron. I pretty much did the same — six months of zero carb (but allowed myself one free day a week, so it wasn’t quite as hardcore as your diet). I don’t think I could do that again, even though I’ve never felt better.

It’s always easiest to attempt something when you don’t know what you’re getting into. If we did, we probably would have never tried it in the first place.

I will always allow myself one absolutely free day on any diet I do. And if I feel like binging on that day, I will do it guilt free (and acknowledge the consquences). It’s what I need to keep sane.

      Cheers!

  2. Good job on taking off the inches. I’m more of a beans and rice, fruits and veggies guy, but who could turn down steak and eggs?

    • Hi Dan, I love beans and rice as much as the next guy, but those are the foods that put fat on my belly. I save them for when I’m trying to gain weight (ala bulking), or when I’m just trying to maintain weight (in moderation). When it comes time for quick drastic weight loss, this is my go to diet. Believe me, after a few weeks of nothing but steak and eggs it becomes quite easy to turn ‘em down.

      Cheers!
